WhatsApp Brings Voice Chat to All Groups

Remember when Clubhouse was the trending app of the moment, so much so that Clubhouse invites were being sold for hundreds of dollars each on eBay? WhatsApp remembers, which is why today, it’s announced an expansion of voice chat to all groups, so you can activate a live audio call within your DM communities. Instagram Adds New DM Options, Including Voice Clip Transcription

Instagram’s announced a couple of messaging updates, as it continues to lean into rising DM usage in the app. Indeed, Instagram chief Adam Mosseri recently reiterated once again that “way more photos and videos are shared into DMs” than to any other element of the app, even going so far as to label it “a paradigm shift” in user behavior, which he’s also noted in several other interviews over the last year. As such, it makes sense for Instagram to add more messaging elements and functions to foster evolving trends.

LinkedIn Removes Custom CTA Links from User Profiles

LinkedIn’s removing the option to add a custom link to your profile, which is currently available to Premium subscribers in the app. As you can see in this example sequence, LinkedIn’s custom profile CTA buttons, which it added as a Premium feature back in 2023, enable users to choose from a range of CTA options (e.g. “Visit my Store”, “Visit my website”), to which they can then add an external URL as a link. That then adds a large CTA button to the profile display, providing another way for users to drive direct traffic from their LinkedIn profile But now, LinkedIn is removing this as an option.
YouTube Updates Content Reviews to Maximize Ad Opportunities

YouTube’s looking to help creators monetize their content faster, and ensure fewer limitations and restrictions on such, with an improved process for reviewing content monetization eligibility that’ll remove the need to prompt YouTube to review your uploads. Right now, each video uploaded to YouTube is reviewed for ad suitability, with creators then getting a green, yellow or red dollar sign icon to signify whether their content has been deemed eligible for all, some, or no ads.
